Chimilandu Bushcamp
Situated in a cool ebony grove high on the banks of the Luangwa River, Chamilandu Bushcamp has breathtaking river views that reach across to the Chindeni Hills in the distance.
The Bushcamp Company's Chamilandu is a small, intimate Bushcamp in the heart of the southern part of the South Luangwa National Park, perfect for those wanting an authentic safari experience, without compromising on luxury. Activities consist of walking safaris and day and night game drives in a variety of environments, including riverine forest, mopane woodland and open floodplains. This attracts a huge diversity of wildlife to the area from Crawshay’s zebra, puku, and waterbuck to regular leopard sightings. Between excursions, spend the afternoon at Chamilandu's photographic hide overlooking a lagoon.
The warthogs, hippos and elephants who come by to quench their thirst provide ample entertainment.
There are only three stilted chalets at Chamilandu Bushcamp, with uninterrupted views of the Luangwa River and the Chindeni Hills beyond. The distinct design and height off the ground of the accommodation make you feel like you're staying in a luxury treehouse. The open-air en-suite bathroom in each chalet includes twin showers, hot and cold water, twin wash basins and toilets.
The four poster beds are draped with black mosquito nets for uninterrupted night views. Outside your chalet is comfortable seating on the raised wooden verandah. From your unique vantage point, you can watch as animals like zebras, kudus, hippos and many more roam across the landscape. The main area has a thatched room and houses a bar and dining area so you can enjoy the wildlife that comes to the river over a scrumptious meal or cocktail.
