Chinzombo
If you want 5-star luxury in the wilderness, look no further than Time + Tide Chinzombo. This award-winning lodge blends modern style with the best of a traditional bush safari camp.
Time + Tide Chinzombo enjoys a tranquil and scenic location along an expansive curve of the Luangwa River. Due to the lodge's slightly elevated position, you can expect sweeping views over the river, the surrounding vast wilderness, and the wildlife that frequents the river banks. Chinzombo is just across the river from South Luangwa National Park. All game drives and other excursions within the park start with a brief and beautiful river crossing in the lodge’s private boat.
Activities include game drives (day and night) and guided walking safaris, as well as cultural activities like village tours. With the Luangwa River flowing at its highest levels in February and March, this is when guests can take advantage of boating safaris. Expert guided walking safaris are perfect for discovering the diversity of habitats of the South Luangwa. Game drives deliver you into the Central Sector of the reserve, where game densities are very high. The region is renowned for its world class predator action, with especially strong sightings of the elusive leopard. In the South Luangwa, you can also look forward to large herds of elephants, rivers packed with hippos and crocs, and some excellent birding.
Six wildly luxurious villas, including a two-bedroom, two-bathroom family unit, are situated on an elevated deck with panoramic views over the river and its abundant wildlife.
Each has a sweeping en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and soaking tub, a private pool, and free wifi. One of the standout features of this camp is the innovative, eco-friendly mini air-conditioning units in every bedroom, which is highly appreciated during the hotter months. To the front of each suite is an outdoor veranda area where you can enjoy the view or unwind with an in-villa spa treatment. Chinzombo’s contemporary open-plan main area features a lounge, a well-stocked bar, a small library of reference books, and a covered dining area. As night falls, dinner can be enjoyed under the stars. Add an excellent wine list plus the wild symphony of the African night, and you'll find few better gastronomic safari experiences.
