Zungulila Bushcamp
Situated on a tranquil bend of the Kapamba River, overlooking game-rich plains in a remote area of the South Luangwa National Park, Zungulila Bushcamp is a rare gem nestled deep in the bush.
Owned by the Bushcamp Company, this isolated, classic tented safari camp, is perfect for small private groups. With a special focus on walking safaris, the guides here are expert-level and lead phenomenal trips into the wilderness, whether by foot or by vehicle. On foot you may pick up the tracks of antelope and lions, or note the unmistakable prints from a crocodile wading through the damp sand.
By vehicle, venture further afield to catch a hyena on a hunt, or packs of wild dogs prowling their territory. Known for its intimate and serene atmosphere, Zungulila Bushcamp is limited to a maximum of eight guests. The camp's four spacious tents are built under thatch roofs. Each shaded tent has its own private bamboo verandah with beautiful views over the Kapamba River and an expansive plain where natural springs attract huge herds of game. Featuring en-suite bathrooms, in every tent, you'll also find a mini sunken plunge pool on the deck – a welcome treat on a hot day.
Zungulila's central dining area, lounge and bar, plus viewing deck with a fire pit, boast open views over the Kapamba River and Muchinga Escarpment. Without having to leave the camp, you'll spot elephants meandering across the plains or a herd of buffalo at the river to drink. This is the perfect backdrop from which to enjoy a delicious lunch or an after-dinner drink by the crackling fire.
